Hilary has extensive process engineering experience with a strong knowledge of safety, quality and environmental best practice, regulatory compliance and ISO standards. She has held both technical and managerial roles.
Summary of Accomplishments
Prior to immigrating to Australia four years ago, Hilary held process engineering and operation management roles with global companies Michelin and DuPont and also with a medical device company, iStat in Canada. She has also been a project manager for the Canadian Department of Defense. She was director of Technical Services and Operations for Total Parts Plus, an electronic component obsolescence data management company in the United States who were pioneers in introducing environmental data management for electronics to comply with EU RoHS and WEEE directives.
Hilary is accredited as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canada and is eligible for charter status with Engineers Australia. She holds dual citizenship with Australia and Canada. She holds a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Engineering as well as Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Hilary has completed an accredited course in Carbon Accounting through Swinburne University, Victoria as well as completing various training programs in safety, quality, risk, reliability and regulatory systems.
She is currently contracted with SD Environmental Management Pty Ltd to provide technical asset and process support in environmental management system design, implementation, training and auditing.
Management System Auditing
Hilary has conducted compliance pre-audits for ISO 13485 quality and risk standards for medical device manufacturing as well as ISO 9000 quality systems as a consultant. As a Process Engineer, she has performed workplace internal audits in safety and quality systems as well as supplier audits.
Management System Development & Continuous Improvement
As an experienced project manager and facilitator, Hilary has successfully managed numerous process improvement programs for clients in parallel to developing management systems. She is skilled in development of asset management strategy to meet and exceed corporate goals and to include safety, quality and environmental targets. She has led many root cause analysis programs to improve yields and reduce waste as part of continuous improvement initiatives. She is experienced at developing and reviewing standard operating procedures and tasks to mitigate safety, quality and environmental risks as part of asset management systems.
Waste Management
Hilary uses lean principles in her approaches to process improvement and asset management strategies for clients to achieve waste reduction and improved overall equipment effectiveness. Waste stream analysis, audits to standards and best practice, and process capability studies provide the benchmark for improvement.
Training and Capacity Building
Hilary has obtained Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and is an experienced trainer, mentor and workshop facilitator. Client leadership and staff engagement is integral for program success. Hilary has trained lead teams as well as fitters and operators. She has trained staff in safety systems, quality systems and risk analysis. She has led workshops in lean principles, root cause analysis problem solving, and reliability centered maintenance and asset management. She also has coached clients in performance management, appraisals, and strategic leadership. Hilary sees training as key to successful implementation of management systems and improvement actions.
